December 6 - 15, 2007: "The Method Gun" work-in-progress presentation: (Thurs-Sat @ 8PM) 6 performances only

THE METHOD GUN – a work-in-progress presentation
(The finished work's World Premier will debut at the Long Center in April 2008)

We've been talking about this play for two years and we're finally making it, right now, as you are reading this. We are. And we invite you to get in on it early, and let us know what you think. This show is going to tour the US and internationally and by coming to this work-in-progress you can participate in its creation!

This original performance by the Rude Mechs questions truth, beauty, luck and deserving by mining the life and rumored death of actor-training guru, Stella Burden, creator of The Approach – an acting technique so dangerous the audience must be warned. This work-in-progress presentation is the first opportunity to see our two-year, transcontinental exploration of The Approach, culminating in a recreation of the deadly “Method Gun” exercise, said to have taken Stella Burden’s life. We promise: guns, rope bridges, zip lines and physical danger. We make no claims on behalf of narrative, common sense, or safety. And perhaps, bravest of all, there will be an informal q&a with the creators after each performance to get your feedback. All in an attempt to prepare for the world premiere in April 2008. Please join us.

The Method Gun has received support from Creative Capital Foundation, Rockefeller MAP Fund, The Orchard Project, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Rude Mechs is supported by the Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division.
